Publication measured inorganic phosphate content (Pi) as a proxy for phytate levels since they exhibit a strong negative correlation and Pi is more economical to measure. The Pi measurement was defined as micrograms/gram. See publication for additional details

Publication also measured Pi in a CX1834-1-2 x S97-1688 population for further confirmation of QTL. The marker was previously associated with phytate content
