Trait Report for Fatty acid desaturase activity
Definition:The fatty acid desaturase activity of a plant or plant part.
Comments:Catalyzes the removal of two hydrogen atoms from a fatty acid chain leaving a C=C bond. Commonly separated into two types, delta and omega. Delta FA desaturases create the double bond in the delta orientation whereas the omega desaturases create the double bond at the 3rd and 4th carbon from the methyl end of the fatty acid.
