Abstract: | The soya-bean cultivar Peking has been used as a source of resistance to H. glycines in developing the cultivars Pickett, Dyer and Scott. Resistance in Peking is conditioned by three independent recessive genes, rhg1, rhg2 and rhg3 and a dominant gene Rhg4, which is closely linked with the li locus conditioning seed-coat colour. A strain of H. glycines found in Virginia reproduces on Peking but PI90763 shows complete resistance and studies indicated that PI90763 carries an additional recessive gene for resistance. |
