Abstract: | A field study was carried out in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1972 to determine the effectiveness of granular preparations containing 10% mephosfolan at 0.75 kg a.i./ha and 10% aldicarb, 10% phorate and 3% carbofuran at 1.0 kg a.i./ha, applied once in furrows at the time of sowing and once as a side dressing 3 weeks after germination, against Melanagromyza sojae (Zhnt.) and Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) on soyabean. It was found that phorate was most effective against M. sojae, while aldicarb was most effective against B. tabaci with respect to the number of pupae, number of adults and percentage of plants affected by yellow mosaic virus after treatment. The other compounds also gave good control of B. tabaci. |
