Abstract:Wild soybean (Glycine soja) seeds were collected from natural populations in South Korea and used to study the inheritance and genetic linkages of isozymes. New mobility variants were found by electrophoresis for alcohol dehydrogenase, mannose-6-phosphate isomerase, phosphoglucomutase, and shikimate dehydrogenase. Inheritance data indicated that two new genes, designated Adh3 and Sdh, and two new alleles, Mpi-e and Pgm2-d, are responsible for these variants. A new linkage was found between the fluorescent esterase Fle and the diaphorase Dia2genes. The recombination frequency between the two loci was 9.8% +/- 1.3%. We tentatively assigned them to linkage group 21 on the soybean genetic map.
